Coconut Husk Chips are a natural, fibrous growing medium made from the outer husk of coconuts. Their chunky, lightweight structure makes them an excellent addition to houseplant potting mixes, particularly for tropical plants that require good drainage and oxygen around their roots.

Unlike fine potting soil, coconut husk chips create larger air spaces throughout the growing medium. This allows roots to breathe while helping maintain a balance between moisture retention and drainage.

How to Use

As a Soil Additive

Mix approximately 10–30% Coconut Husk Chips into your existing houseplant soil, depending on the plant variety and the structure of the growing medium.

For aroids requiring a particularly chunky mix, a higher proportion may be suitable.

For Custom Aroid Mixes

Combine Coconut Husk Chips with suitable ingredients such as:

• White Baltic Peat
• Coco Fibre
• Perlite
• Orchid Bark

The objective is to create a growing medium that retains sufficient moisture while allowing excellent airflow around the roots.

As a Decorative Top Dressing

Apply a loose layer over the soil surface for a natural, attractive finish. Avoid excessive thickness, as this may slow surface drying.
