Velvet lovers pay attention: Playful Weirdo aka Alocasia micholitziana Frydek is completely contemporary with its velvety leaves. It is limited edition. The dark green, velvet leaves in combination with white veins make this Alocasia a real gem.

Light

Choose a spot with indirect light for the Alocasia Frydek. The Alocasia is not much of a sun lover. Too much sunlight causes the leaves to burn in the bright sun. The Alocasia Frydek does not like a place in the shade either. This will slow down the growth of the plant. A place without intense and direct sunlight is therefore best recommended.

Watering

The Alocasia Frydek prefers a continuously moist soil. But make sure that the plant is not wet for too long to prevent root rot. It is advisable to give the Alocasia a small shot of water more often instead of a lot of water in one go. Water the Alocasia Frydek about once or twice a week in the summer. You can water less in the colder months. The Alocasia Frydek will then grow less quickly, so it will also need less water. Do not water until the top 2cm of the soil has dried. The key to success is to ensure that the soil is neither soaked nor bone dry. Demanding is this diva, isn't it ?! With the Alocasia Frydek you will regularly see drops at the tip of the leaf, this is called guttation. This is common in the Alocasia family.

Feeding

It is advisable to give the Alocasia Frydek organic houseplant food in the summer and spring season. To stimulate new growth during the growing season, it is a smart idea to apply this once a month. For example, choose a liquid plant food that you mix in the irrigation water. In the winter months you do not have to feed the plant, the growing season is over. Adding nutrition outside the growing season does more damage than it does well, as it can burn the roots.
